Scope and purpose
This privacy policy applies to the Trailsense website and the related communication through the website contact and demo-request form.
We process personal data only where this is necessary to provide the website, respond to enquiries, improve the service, or comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases
Depending on the situation, we process personal data on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR, where you give consent
- Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR, where processing is necessary to respond to a concrete request or to take pre-contractual steps
- Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR, where we are subject to a legal obligation
- Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR, where processing is necessary for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the website and communication process
Accessing the website and server logs
When you access this website, technical connection data may be processed automatically to deliver the page and maintain operational security. This can include:
- IP address
- date and time of the request
- requested URL
- referrer URL
- browser and operating system information
- status and error information
The processing takes place on the basis of our legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website. Log data is kept only for as long as needed for troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and security review.
Contact and demo requests
If you submit the contact or demo-request form, we process the information you provide to answer your enquiry and, where relevant, prepare a follow-up conversation about Trailsense.
This may include:
- name
- email address
- optional phone number
- organisation
- region or trail network
- details of your use case or message
The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR where your request concerns a potential business relationship, and otherwise Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR based on our legitimate interest in handling incoming enquiries efficiently.
We keep enquiry data only for as long as necessary to process the request and any resulting communication. If a business relationship follows, the relevant data may be retained for the duration of that relationship and any statutory retention period.
Email delivery through Postmark
Form submissions are sent to us through Postmark, an email delivery service provided by ActiveCampaign, LLC. We use Postmark solely to transmit the content of your enquiry to our configured inbox recipients.
According to Postmark's official documentation, Postmark's primary servers are hosted outside Chicago and on Amazon Web Services, and email content can be stored by Postmark for a limited retention period. Because of that setup, personal data may be transferred to a third country outside the EEA. Postmark provides a Data Processing Addendum and related GDPR documentation for this processing.

Analytics with Umami
This website uses Umami Analytics to understand how the site is used and which pages are visited. According to Umami's official documentation, Umami works without cookies, without cross-site tracking, and without collecting personal data in the traditional analytics sense.
Depending on the live deployment, Umami may process data such as page views, referrer information, browser type, device type, operating system, and approximate country information in anonymized form. We use this information to improve the website and measure general interest in Trailsense.
The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR based on our legitimate interest in understanding the reach and performance of the website in a privacy-conscious way.
Further information:
Recipients
Personal data is disclosed only where necessary for the purposes described above. Recipients can include:
- internal email recipients responsible for Trailsense enquiries
- technical service providers involved in hosting, email delivery, and analytics
- authorities or advisers where we are legally obliged or otherwise entitled to disclose data
Retention periods
We keep personal data only for as long as required for the respective purpose or for statutory retention duties. Once the purpose no longer applies and no retention obligation remains, the data is deleted or anonymized.

- request restriction of processing
- receive data you provided in a portable format where applicable
- object to processing based on legitimate interests
